The Life of a Cat

Have you ever thought about how weird it is that we have these animals living in our houses as pets that we call cats? Well tonight that's what's on my mind. All cats do is lay on the floor by the wood-stove, eat some cat food, walk around rubbing themselves against you legs and sleep all day long. Don't get me wrong, I have 3 cats (not all living at the same house) and they are all my little babies that I love to pieces but just thinking about these soft four legged animals living in your house is weird. You as their "parent" are their life, you are all they have. 

An example of why I find cats weird... As I am sitting by the wood stove writing this blog my cat, Moxie, is sitting by our bar stools just death staring me! It really creeps me out, because all I can picture is her bolting and attacking me. I sit here almost every evening doing  my homework, but I have never really looking up to pay attention to the cat. But tonight I was really struggling on thinking of something creative to write about so I looked up and crazy cat is looking at me.

My two other cats that live at my house in town are Riley and Finnegan. Riles is super skinny, gray and one of the most loving cats I have ever laid hand on. Finnegan on the other hand is overly obese, yellow and is a scardy cat. These two cats use the litter box constantly and we haven't quite figured why. We've thought that maybe it's because they have nothing better to do, so it's almost like they are doing it for pleasure or maybe because we feed them too much! Cats live a weird life.

He was the Change

I got the amazing opportunity to watch my little nephew be born on January 2nd, 2014. It was so crazy to watch but, to me it only makes our bond closer. Let me tell you this, after being an Aunt of just over one year, I've simply had the best times of my life! From cuddles on the couch, tickle time, playing trucks to moments of frustration we never have a dull moment together. 

There is one specific moment that had has left quite a humorous memory in my head. It started off a little like this… My family and I were just hanging around in my kitchen before dinner just like any typical night. Owen needed a diaper change so my sister changed his bum, and instead of pitting another diaper she just let him run around naked. Well that lasted about 20 minutes… I get up to go find him squatting on the floor by the stairs pooping!!!!! So to stay we got that all cleaned up and not even five minutes later there he goes again.

Nothing has brought so much joy and craziness to my life then this crazy little man! He has helped me mature and prepare myself to me the great mother my sister is, someday. And I never thought I could love a human being so much. As much as I enjoy watching him I love just being his aunt because, at the end of the day I can always give him back!  

12 Dresses Later

With it being my senior year in high school, prom dress shopping is probably the most stressful thing especially, when I don't even have a date! What color dress do I want? Do I want a poofy one or do I want a flowy dress? What do I WANT? Well let me tell you the process I went through.

Well I can narrow this down. I hate the way fluffy dresses look on me. I don't want a white dress because, to me they look like wedding dresses and as far as I know, I am not getting married. I will not wear an orange, green, gray or brown dress. Dresses that flow, are strapless and are tight are my kind of dresses.

I went to Henry's bridal shop and tried at least 7 dresses on that I thought looked beautiful and after trying them all on I Didn't like they way some of them fit or the beading in some of them. So I decided to go try the other bridal shop across town and try five more dresses on. After I tried them on I finally found the one!! After going to the first bridal shop I was already tired and didn't even want to go to the second store, because I had no faith that I was going to find one at the store either.

But ladies listen hear, even when you feel like giving up, DON'T! Because what you're looking for can be sitting right in front of you.

Taylor's Law

My name is Kelsey Maguire, a close friend of Taylor Darveau. We met in school as young children and before we knew it we were just about inseparable. Our sisters were best friends as well. It was always a good time hanging out, the four of us. Often times it got confusing when we were all together because for example my mother would yell "Chelsea and Tayla" and me and my sister who answer thinking she was yelling to us. I am so glad I got to experience her contagious laugh and beautiful smile and wish I could still today.
Taylor was a passenger in the car of a teen driver who had an intermediate license for only 2 months and was not to has passengers in the car at any time. It has been a long 17 months without seeing her silly faces on my snapchat, hearing her laugh and knowing that it was her coming down the hall ways at school and the hugs she gave me often with her long monkey arms.
The Taylor Foundation, friends, and family are trying to pass the Taylor Law that would require all new teen drivers to have "Taylor Tags" on the vehicles that they will be driving. It is in my belief that this action would reduce the number of fatalities and would make teens think twice about making a reckless decision. For example Kyleigh's Law in New Jersey, has helped decrease about 9% of fatality accidents with teen drivers.
With this the Taylor Foundation is trying to raise awareness and having your help and only make the difference for the better. Please take this message into high consideration so, we can save lives together.
